Hailing from another city and getting adjusted to Pune might take some time. But, once that happens, you will be transported back to the golden era of Peshwas and the Maratha empire. Even though  there has been a long time passed since the historical events, Pune still holds its old charm. You see this vibe transcended through Mumbai Pune Mumbai streaming on ZEE5.

In the Marathi film, Swapnil Joshi’s character is an example of a typical Punekar. Through his personality traits and conversations with Mukta Barve’s character, it makes the film a hilarious watch.

If you are wondering which Puneri qualities I am talking about, read below! (Each time you relate any of these, don’t forget to pass me a virtual hi-fi.)

1. Their fluency with the language

Staying in Mumbai, Marathi is quite often adulterated with the other languages. However, that isn’t the case with a Punekar. Language is their sword which they love flaunting proudly. Their Marathi is beautiful and more refined than Mumbaikars ever imagined. Swapnil Joshi being a Punekar in the film speaks Marathi which makes all of us slightly cringe at our language skills.

2. Hate Mumbaikars and their ways

Punekars are far too proud to belong to the Mumbai crowd. Both the cities have stark differences in their cultures, which can be a reason for the strong dislike. You see how Mukta and Swapnil are stereotyping each other while taunting each other.

3. Their bluntness

If you think Regina George was rude, then, think again as you haven’t probably seen the wrath of Punekars. Mincing words aren’t the term known to them. They will tell you exactly what and how they are feeling bluntly.

4. Helmet… what helmet?

When Mukta Barve asks him about the helmet, Swapnil Joshi casually passes it off. The Punekars are a lot more laid back about their traffic rules. This also helps them travel faster than flash as they know how to go zip-zap-zoom.

5. Their signboards

Having creative signboards is their birthright. If you see cool signboard anywhere else in the world, they have probably stolen inspiration from Pune. Seeing these, Mukta Barve is just as surprised as you and I will be.

Through the perspective of two young adults, Mukta Barve and Swapnil Joshi, Pune makes us its own. If you haven’t had the time to catch up on the movie, this is probably the sign you have been waiting for.
