Here are five ways you can do so:
1. Keep your money in a reliable bank
Do a through research of the bank, before you decide to put your money in it. Have a look at the bank’s services and what they have to offer, that could benefit you. Once you have done that, make a note of your account number and password and keep checking your account on a daily basis.
2. Keep loose cash in a safe
If you have a lot of cash lying around at home, get a proper safe box and put your money in it. Seal the same with a password or a lock. Never simply keep the money inside your drawer or cupboard, it can easily be stolen if you do that.
3. Use two-factor authentication system
For netbanking, stick to the two-step authentication method where you are sent a code that you have to put in to access whatever service you need. This helps protect your account and assure you that it is safe as it’s being used only by you and no scamster.
4. Use a money belt while travelling
If you are travelling and have a lot of cash or credit cards with you, make sure you have a money belt around your waist. Wallets are easy to steal from one’s pockets hence, your cash will be safe and hard to access if in a money belt.
5. Never share your account details with anyone
This is a given- never tell anyone your account number, IFSC code, card number, bank account passwords, customer care number etc. There are a lot of fraud calls where people pretend to be from a bank and ask for this information. But you should know that bankers are not supposed to ask you for this information. So if someone does, you know that they are trying to scam you.
