In today’s time, joint families are as rare as the extinct animal species. As the concept of nuclear families is blooming, the olden rule of living together is slowly taken a back seat but not completely vanished. Since the time Almost Sufal Sampoorna began, we have seen the whole of the Ketkar family living under the same roof. Looking at Sai’s household, we can almost imagine what the scene would be like having our Kaka, Kaku and grandparents around to guide us. So, today taking inspiration from them, we have listed the advantages of living together with your kin.

Strong family values
Our lovely Sai Ketkar is an example of this point. Thanks to living alongside many grown-ups, Sai has a sense of maturity (with a naughty streak) and a strong connection with the culture. Her grandfather, Appa, has imbibed important values of honesty and being true to yourself.
Your grandparents will always shower you with their love and affection as you, in turn, extend the same feeling towards them. Especially, when you live alongside them, there is a special touch to that bond. Even though Appa is a hot-tempered man, he and Ajji always take care of Sai and Chinu. In between them, there is always a sense of togetherness which can never be equally replicated in nuclear families.
In this old age, Appa and Ajji don’t have to worry about making their ends meet as Sai’s father and Kaka are always looking after them. A joint family is like a joint business venture where all the family members equally put in their share to the family fund. With this unity, they make sure that all the ends are met while not burdening one person with the whole financial responsibility.
Split responsibility in the kitchen
In Almost Sufal Sampoorna, we have seen Sai’s Aai, Kaki and Ajji help each other in cooking for the whole family. They are always there to cover for the other when that person falls ill. They can complete all the chores in time with Sai and Chinu’s help. Unfortunately, in a nuclear family, if the mother falls ill, the whole house becomes inactive.
This is the beauty of sharing your personal space with your loved ones. Sometimes, due to many people, you might have to compromise your privacy. But, that is just a small drawback. After reading this, what are your thoughts about Sai’s family? We would also love to know your favourite character in the Ketkar household!
