Dussehra Special: 5 Quick And Easy Sweet Dishes You Can Try On This Auspicious Occasion

From Rasmalai Blast to Moong Dal Gulabjam we bring you five amazing dishes you can make to celebrate Dussehra.

1. Gulkand Daliya Kheer

Dussehra is also known as Vijaydashmi as it marks the end of Navratri and the victory of good over the evil. It is said that during these nine days Maa Durga was fighting against the evil Mahishasura and she killed the evil on the 10th day. Many Hindu women fast during these nine days and on the day of Dussehra, they break their upwas and eat normal meals. Today we bring you five quick and easy recipe to make this auspicious festival even more special.

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 glass milk
  • 2 tsp dry fruits
  • 1 cup fried daliya (porridge)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp Kesar
  • 1 tbsp gulkand

Directions:

  • Take a bowl and add 1 cup daliya, 1 tbsp gulkand and make balls from the mixture.
  • Deep fry the balls in oil.
  • Next, take another kadai and add 1 glass milk, 1 tbsp sugar and stir it for a while.
  • Now add 1 tsp cardamom powder, 1 tsp Kesar and 2 tsp dry fruits.
  • Lastly, add the daliya balls and let it cook for some time.

2. Moong Dal Gulabjam

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 bowl sugar syrup
  • 1 cup Moong dal soaked in water for 2 hours and grinded
  • 1 boiled and shredded potato
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  • Take a bowl and add 1 cup moong dal, 1 cup boiled and shredded potato, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp baking soda and mix all the ingredients nicely.
  • Heat oil for deep frying.
  • Make small balls from the mixture.
  • Deep fry them in oil until golden brown.
  • Once done, transfer them into the sugar syrup and your dish is now ready to serve.

3. Makhana Moong Dal Payasam

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1 cup jaggery powder
  • 1 small cup moong dal
  • 1 cup of coconut milk
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2 tsp makhana
  • 2 tsp dry fruits
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

Directions:

  • Take a Kadai and add 1 tsp ghee, 1 small cup moong dal and 1 glass water.
  • Cover the Kadai with a lid and let it cook for a while.
  • Take another pan and add the moong dal mix.
  • Next, add 1 cup jaggery powder, 1 cup coconut milk, 1 tbsp milk, 2 tsp dry fruits, 2 tsp makhana, 1 tsp poppy seeds and 1 tsp cardamom powder.
  • Once done move it to a serving bowl.
  • Serve this dish hot.

4. Rasmalai Blast

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 cup rasmalai
  • 2 scoops of butterscotch ice cream
  • 2 tsp strawberry syrup
  • 1 tsp dry fruits
  • 5 to 6 blue berry
  • 1 tsp butter scotch nuts

Directions:

  • Take a serving glass and add 1 tsp strawberry syrup, 1 cup ras malai, 1 tsp dry fruits, 2 scoops of ice cream.
  • Add dry fruits and butterscotch nuts.
  • Lastly, garnish it with blueberries and strawberry syrup.

5. Pineapple Payasam

To make this recipe you will need:

  • 1 bowl pineapple chunks
  • 1 bowl coconut milk
  • Ghee
  • 3 to 5 mint leaves
  • 14 to 15 cashews
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 14 to 15 raisins
  • 1 bowl jaggery powder

Directions:

  • Add ghee in the frying pan and fry 1 cup cashews on it and move it to a plate.
  • Similarly, fry 1 cup raisins in the frying pan and move it to a plate.
  • Add the 1 bowl jaggery powder in a frying pan and make syrup.
  • Add 1 bowl pineapple chunks in another frying pan and add 1 tsp cardamom powder and jaggery syrup.
  • Add fried cashew and fried raisins to the mix.
  • Turn off the gas and add 1 bowl coconut milk and mix it.
  • Add some cashews and 3 to 4 mint leaf and your Pineapple Payasam is ready to serve.
