Coming from different cultures, Indians might be poles apart from each other, but the one thing that binds them is the parental pressure to opt for engineering or medicine during their academic years. Surprisingly, even our favourite actors haven’t been able to escape this pressure. So, during a tete-a-tete with the Phulpakhru actor Ashish Joshi, we were inclined to know how he fell in love with acting after studying engineering. Here’s what he had to say.
Watch Ashish in Phulpakhru before you proceed:
Seeing him essay Sameer in Phulpakhru and Babasaheb in Uncha Mazha Jhoka, Ashish’s personality screams that he was born to act. Obviously, we were surprised to know he comes from the engineering background. Further jumping into the details, he said, “I started acting through a drama club from my engineering college. My first project, at that point, was doing street plays which got attention. My curiosity led me to join an acting workshop which went on for a couple of days. This became a turning point in my life when I knew I didn’t want to become an engineer anymore and pursue acting.”
Just as everything fell in place for Ashish, we are hoping the same for his and Trushna Chandratre’s characters in the show. On speaking about them, he asserted that the couple might have a future together after going through so many hurdles. Either way, in reel and real life, Ashish is reaching for the stars and finding success which makes us happy.
