Old age can be a difficult phase to deal with. Along with bodily changes, the elderly also experience pangs of loneliness. Hence, as a grandchild, you can take the responsibility of hosting your grandparents at home and making them feel like they are not alone. This is what Pushpak Vimaan’s Vilas (Subodh Bhave) does, when he sees his granddad  Tatya (Mohan Joshi) spending a lonely life in his small town.

2. Take them sight-seeing

In old age, the body starts giving up and travelling becomes a problem. However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t make the experience a comfortable one for your grandparents. If they can’t walk or have difficulty moving about, hire a wheelchair and make arrangements with hotels and restaurants for assistance. Take that extra effort and take your grandparents sight-seeing. Trust us, it would mean the world to them!

3. Make them try new things

In a scene from Pushpak Vimaan, Vilas takes Tatya to a mall and treats him to a fish pedicure. And the old man loves every bit of it! With a little to look forward to, old people tend to feel low and worn out. Make them try new things so that they remain excited and enthusiastic about life, even in their last stage.

4. Be next to them when they need you the most

Old age often comes with illnesses and this is the phase where your grandparents would need you the most. So be a good grandson/ granddaughter and hold their hand, just like Vilas did for Tatya in Pushpak Vimaan.

5. Listen to them

The elderly need someone to talk to, to break away from their loneliness. So be good and just listen to them, even if you think what they say, doesn’t make much sense. The point is to make them feel like their words matter.

6. Take them out for a nice meal

When you reach a certain age, eating any and everything under the sun becomes a problem. There are several food restrictions and the elderly are forced to eat a particular kind of cuisine. But an outing once in a while never hurts, right? Take your grandparents out for a nice meal and treat them with the cuisine they love. Their taste buds deserve a change! But make sure you consult their doctor first before taking them out.

In this scene from Pushpak Vimaan, Tatya is seen enjoying a plate of hakka noodles, for the first time in his life. How cute!
