2. Nil Battey Sannata
This film tells the story of a girl Apeksha who isn’t determined to finish her studies, as she doesn’t want to put any financial burden on her single mother Chanda. But she (Chanda) enrolls herself in the same school as Apeksha, to prove a point. Starring Swara Bhaskar and Pankaj Tripathi, Nil Battey Sannata is a Hindi film that presents a refreshing and unique bond between a mother and daughter.

After her successful stint in Kahaani, Vidya Balan returns as Durga Rani Singh in Kahaani 2. The film tells the story of Vidya Sinha whose daughter Mini gets kidnapped. Vidya sets to rescue her but meets with an accident and slips into a coma. The police find her diary in which are written details of her dark past. Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, Deewaar is a classic that you need to watch if you want to load up on some high-voltage drama and motherly sentiments. It tells the story of two brothers, who choose different paths; one becomes a gangster (Amitabh as Vijay) and the other a police officer (Shashi as Ravi). But a twist in the tale comes in when Ravi has to arrest his own brother Vijay. Does he?
