Seeing your mom make a steaming hot breakfast as you stumble out of bed into the kitchen isn’t a rare sight. The inviting aroma of the bhaji would wake you better than any alarm in the world ever could. Even a day without seeing your Aai in the kitchen your whole routine would fall apart. It is she who glues the family together with her blood, sweat and hard work. So, today, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate the real-life superheroes that have been saving us right since our first cry. Luckily, we had an opportunity to speak to Ek Ghar Mantarlela actor Suyash Tilak and Saajana actor Abhijeet Shwetchandra, as they told us the significance of mothers in their life.
Watch a tribute to mothers in Amitabh Bachchan’s voice:
Abhijeet, who is known for Baaji and Pratap’s character in Saajana, feels that every child has an incomparable bond with his mother since he is in her womb. Calling her a “confession box”, he says, “For me, my home is my mom. She may not understand my field but I can always rely on her and feel so relaxed. Being a good listener, she is my friend, philosopher and when it comes to the word “mother” she is everything! Still, on Mother’s day, I would give her a tight, warm hug and will thank her for everything. I want her to be there for me as she always is.”
Sharing his fondest memory, he added, “While we were shooting ‘Baazi’, there was a scene where the villain tries to cheat and kill my onscreen mother after she gets into trouble. In the scene, I had to fail while searching for her and start crying. After shooting the scene, I started crying in real since I didn’t get a chance to meet my mother in the last couple of months. When everyone saw me in actual tears, they were amused.”
Meanwhile, the actor also opens up about his favourite recipe made by his mother. He said, “I love Ukdiche modak, Puran Poli and Pomfret fry.” Abhijeet especially loves the seafood made by his mother!
Suyash Tilak, who is known for his characters in Baapmanus and Ek Ghar Mantarlela, says, “My mother has always been the strongest support in my family. She is my closest friend and I can tell her anything without being afraid of what she might think. She is the most loveable, innocent and positive soul that I have ever seen or come across. She, herself, is very talented and successful in Bharatnatyam but I have never seen her denying her duties towards family and loved ones. That’s something to learn from her as she had managed everything till now so perfectly. She loved a man, my father, believes in him and supports him through all the highs and the lows. My parents’ love story is my favourite love story.” Further, on speaking about the favourite recipe made by his mother, he said he loves Sabudanyachi Khichdi.
