Abhinandan Varthaman All Set To Return To India

India’s brave-heart Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman is all set to return India. The entire country has been praying for the pilot’s well being ever since he was captured by Pakistan. Abhinandan will be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah – Attari joint check post this evening. The commander’s family has reached the venue to receive him.

Abhinandan was captured on Wednesday, February 27 following the crash of Mig 21 Bison that crashed across the LoC. A day after the pilot was captured, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that his government has decided to release the Indian Wing Commander. During a joint session of Parliament in Islamabad, Khan said, “As a peace gesture, we have decided to release the Indian pilot in our custody.”

The India – Pakistan tension escalated mid February following the Pulwama attack by Jaish – e – Mohammad. Days after this attack, India carried out air strikes on February 26. The Indian Air Force sent Twelve Mirage 2000 jets across the Line of Control at around 3:30 in the morning and bombed a Jaish – e – Mohammad camp in Balakot. According to news reports, a huge number of senior commanders, JeM terrorists and jihadis undergoing training for suicide attacks were killed.
